Mode Conditioning Fiber Optic Patch Cable
Mode conditioning patch cords are typically used in pairs, requiring one at each end to connect equipment to the cable plant. These patch cords are usually ordered in quantities to ensure proper system integration.
Mode conditioning patch cords convert single-mode to multimode signals. For multimode to single-mode conversion, a media converter is required. These cables are designed for use in the 1300nm or 1310nm optical wavelength window and should not be used for 850nm short wavelength applications such as 1000Base-SX.
Mode Conditioning Patch Cables are essential when installing Gigabit 1000 Base-LX routers and switches into existing multimode cable plants, as the transceiver modules launch single-mode 1300 nm signals while the network infrastructure uses multimode cables.
